Event TIAX presented its advanced nano-silicon engineered electrode technology for lithium-ion batteries at the ARPA-E Energy Innovations Summit held on March 2, 2010 The Summit brought together all the nation's key players in energy innovation: scientific researchers, VC investors, technology entrepreneurs, large corporations, and government officials. As an ARPA-E Award Finalist, TIAX was given the opportunity to present its technology at the Summit. Development of TIAX advanced nano-silicon engineered electrode for lithium-ion batteries would increase the energy density of Li-ion batteries by up to 50%. TIAX had an exhibit table during the Showcase portions of the Summit and offered an overview on the current status of the materials and electrode technology and its potential to improve battery performance. TIAX also participated in all the other components of the Summit including the Pre-Conference Workshop on March 1.

Event New England Sustainable Energy Association's (NESEA) Building Energy 2010 Conference Themed: "Reduce, Retrofit, and Renew", this year's conference was an opportunity for TIAX to interact with other companies and investigate cross-discipline approaches to building topics. TIAX is actively seeking commercialization partners for proprietary energy efficiency technologies related to building systems. In addition, TIAX is actively seeking collaboration with manufacturing and commercialization partners for response to federal and state government solicitations. TIAX used the conference as an opportunity to discuss our technologies and their energy benefits with interested parties within the building technologies community.

Event Large Lithium Ion Battery Technology and Application (LLIBTA) Symposium, and Advanced Automotive Battery Conference (AABC) 2010 On Wednesday, February 3rd, Dr. Brian Barnett presented new results on TIAX's proprietary cathode material for lithium-ion batteries known as CAM-7. This presentation highlighted many of the excellent properties CAM-7 offers for transportation applications. The talk took place at the Large Lithium Ion Battery Technology and Application (LLIBTA) Symposium, and Advanced Automotive Battery Conference (AABC) 2010 held in Mainz, Germany, with over 600 people in attendance.

Event ASTM Committee F23 TIAX is an active member of ASTM Committee F23, which met in late January in San Antonio. Our interests are focussed on standards development pertinent to chemical protection and human factors attributes of protective clothing as well as protection from physical hazards. Knowledge and involvement in these areas supports our contract work for the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. For example, clothing systems that we develop and garments from commercial suppliers are tested for thermal comfort properties on our life-size, copper thermal manikin. We also evaluate, characterize, and design clothing items and systems pertinent to their impact on worker and warfigther performance.
